Sustainable tourism is an effective way to elevate the revenues and economy of the country. The different research papers associated with the development of the sustainable tourism are summarized. The research articles address the various challenges that are faced by the countries that are involved in tourism activities. The following researches are an approach towards reducing the challenges by employing different methods.
The conducted experiments address the problems that are faced in managing the sustainable tourism like the impact on the climate, widening of the tourism to local level and whether maximising or optimization would be effective for improvisation of tourism activities. the annotations of the citations include the underlying objective of the research and the insights that were drawn from the previous literature reviews. Literature reviews are collection of the experiments and researches that are done covering the specific subjects. The selection of the materials and methods is based on the type of search that is being conducted. For example, pictorial Q method and survey instruments are used in the following research experiments. Moreover, a personal reflection that developed is presented along with the results and conclusions of the experiments.
To infer the results of the experiment, a thorough analysis of the methodologies is done and the comparison is drawn based on the results and validity of the hypothesis is measured that is made on the basis of previous researches. Moreover, it is found that the challenges develop due to the personal attitudes of the stakeholder groups and also individual stakeholders that impacted the results of the experiment that was carried out by Hardy and Pearson (2018). To develop the sustainable tourism, the role of local government was studied by Shone, Simmon and dalziel (2016) and they showed that local government is effective in blurring the relationship differences between public and private sectors therefore, resulting in the growth of the sustainable tourism.
Sustainable tourism development:
The aim of this research article is to discuss the flexibility of the rural people of Malaysia in sustaining the rural tourism with support of the sustainability planning and the actions taken by local government. The research was based on the positive responses that the government was extracting and the revenues they were making from tourism industry. The research methodologies include extensive search for collecting literature reviews and observation of five villages of Malaysia with different cultures by staying there to understand the current situation of the villages and availability of the facilities. The literature review suggests that developing rural tourism would increase the job opportunities for the local people and would possibly eliminate the poverty in rural Malaysia. Apart from this it is suggested that this undertaking can aid in developing revenues and eventually would result in increased economy of the country. After analysis of the literature reviews and the obtained results, it was concluded that the encouragement of the rural tourism ensures the sustainability of the local community. However, the limitations of this study were that its consideration is limited to the factors that determine resiliency for example, culture, environmental conditions and relationships with authorities. Moreover, it does not consider the factors like legal aspects, partnership and regulatory. For further improvisation, the government can look into the legal factors for sustainable tourism.
A challenge for sustainable tourism.
The objective of this paper is to understand that only maximizing the tourism is not the sole requirement but by optimizing the existing tourist system more potential, profitable, stable and sustainable entity can be developed. To effectively perform this research, various steps of methodologies was adopted like interviews were conducted by snowball approach, extensive literature review research followed by many survey instruments. However, the limitation of these methods is that using multiple methods can complicate the research. An insight of the research was developed from the existing literature review as researchers found the differences in tourism activities among places. The obtained results showed that the increased taxes and higher cost are reducing the tourism activities but it managed to reduce the global warming effects in the country. The optimization is preferred over the maximization of the tourism according to the results obtained. The conclusion of the research is that the length of the stay, holiday seasons and timings and management of the expenditure are parameters to destination management. The research holds high potential of reducing the carbon emission and taking it to zero emission till 2050 as it is planning on optimizing the tourism rather increasing it.
Examining stakeholder group specificity.
The underlying objective for carrying out this research was to understand the attitude of the stakeholders for innovative and sustained development of the tourism. The different viewpoints like participation response of the stakeholders were determined. This determination of the attitude was done by conducting a pictorial Q method and a thorough research of literature review was also undertaken to outline the research process. This research of the stakeholders was conducted in Tarkine, Tasmania, a highly politicised region of Australia. the literature review suggested that by understanding the opinion of the stakeholders, the challenges of the tourism can be eliminated. Moreover, the literature showed that the attitudes of the group of stakeholders are same in some cases but in others their opinions vary largely. The results of the Q test showed that the attitudes of the stakeholders, members and regulators of the different community groups were not homogenous. Further, the findings concluded that the group attitudes of the stakeholders are needed to be assessed concurrently to determine the essentiality for occurrence of sustainable tourism. The pictorial Q approach in the study acted as catalytic factor to connect with the participants more deeply for acquiring results. However, the research methodology is limited to the specific politicised areas of Australia therefore, the opinions of other stakeholders is not taken for comparing the results.
New challenges for managing sustainable tourism in protected areas.
The objective of this paper was to analyse the challenges for managing the sustainable tourism in the protected areas of Sweden by studying European Landscape Convention. It focused on how the socioeconomic benefit can be enhanced while minimizing the negative impacts on the environment. The methods deployed to understand the implications of new policies and programs with associated complex conditions is known as developmental evaluation. Another method used was qualitative method because of the exploratory behaviour of the underlying research. The research resulted in four themes like opportunity and future challenges of the sustainable tourism by the analysis of the research. The results also showed the challenges, tensions and opportunities in the protected landscape areas. It can be concluded from this research that the approach of biosphere reserve can integrate bottom-up and top-down procedure to facilitate the landscape management. The major limitation of the research is that the study is limited to the area of Sweden and more diverse research is required to be able to render more specific results. However, there are challenges such as requirement of trust in landscape approaches between stakeholder groups which limits the study. But this is an effective way to promote sustainable tourism by limiting the challenges like trust issues among different groups of the authorities of the community. Much of this research has focused on how tourism enhances socioeconomic benefits while minimizing negative environmental impacts
Evolving roles for local government in tourism development.
Shone, Simon and Dalziel in their research journal studied the evolving part of the local government for developing the tourism with an underlying perspective of political economy. For undertaking the research 35 interviews were conducted from a total of 19 agencies, stakeholder and organizations that were impacted by the development of the tourism in the selected area for study. The literature reviews suggested that the spatial reconfiguration and restructuring of the tourism destinations that are associated with mobilities is linked to the elevated pluralization of the management of destination. The results of this research showed that the local government was actively participating in the promotion and development of the local tourism for the tourism industry of the district by proper land- use planning for agriculture and tourism. The limitation of the used method is that the case study of a single region is done. More case studies can widen the horizon of critical reasoning and gives a thorough practical knowledge of the subject. The conclusion drawn from this research is that the restructuring of the local government is enabler and facilitator of the economic activities instead an adjudicator and have played a major role in blurring the differences among public and private sectors towards state relationships. Moreover, the local government has an effective role to play to enable the sustainable tourism among local people.
