Germs are invisible and can be contacted with human touch any time by any medium. People come to the contact of germs without knowing, so it is more dangerous because they do not know what germs will affect them in which way. If any people carrying a germ sneezes or coughs, then the germ spread to the people surrounding him or her. Along with that, people get to the contact of germs by touching something that has germs. Hence, it is important to wash the hands regularly and maintain cleanliness. Regular handwashing stop the infection spread and prevents illness. There are severe ways to wash off the hands like using soap, handwash liquid, sanitizer and sanitizer in spray form. Along with washing the hands regularly, it is important to wash the regular use things that we repeatedly touch like phone, laptop, regular use furniture and kitchen elements. In the present report, the handwashing methods and effective ways of handwashing are clearly discussed along with the guidelines regarding hand washing. The various ways of handwashing have clearly been described, and the most effective method is also mentioned in the report.
The primary aim of the report is to provide a brief understanding of food safety and the practical implication of handwashing to prevent infection caused by several germs. The report also aims to provide a detailed idea about handwashing controls to prevent germs spread.
The method of handwashing is the same, but the elements that are used during hand washing are different. In the fulfillment of the aim of the study, there are four types of elements used to detect the efficiency of each hand washing elements. The things that were used in the practical study are hand wash liquid, soap and water, normal water and alcohol-based hand sanitizer. There were 12 participants who were taken part in the study to complete the practical experiment of hand washing. The participants were divided into a set of 3 people, and each set was allocated with each element of hand washing. The sets were divided as the table below:

In the first set of participants, they were guided to wash their hand only with normal water and rinse the fingers, palm, and wrist thoroughly with the water.
The second set of participants’ was guided to wash their hands with soap and water with the following steps:
At first, they were guided to put their hands under running water to wet the hands and then applied soap.
After that, they rubbed the soap in the palm of their hands and spread the soap remained on hand in overall hands, nails, between fingers and tips of the fingers.
They were guided to scrub their hand with the soap for 20 seconds because it was needed to spread the soap on the entire area and to remove the germs properly.
After that, they rinse their hands with running water, which was clean.
Al last, towels were provided to them to dry their hands.
The process of using hand wash liquid is almost similar like soap and water. In this part, the participants of the third set were guided to wash their hands with the hand wash liquid and water. They were guided to follow the steps of handwashing below:
At first, they were told to rinse the hands with running water and then apply the hand wash liquid.
Then they were guided to rub it on their palms, fingers, nails, fingertips and the back of the hands. They were told to rub the liquid hand wash on their hands for 20 seconds.
Then, they rinse the hands with running water and dried with a towel.
The 4th set of participants was guided to use a hand sanitizer that contained 60% alcohol. At first, they put some sanitizer on the palm of one hand. Then they rub both hands together and spread the sanitizer on the fingers, nails, fingertips. The process was continued for 20 seconds until the sanitizer got dried.
All the methods of handwashing are analyzed with appropriate inspection, and the results are based on the efficiency of the methods and the practical use of the methods. The 1st set of participants was used only water to wash their hands, that is not efficient to wash the hand completely because only water can wipe away the minimal dust of the hands, not even the entire dust. The second method used with soap and water, which is an effective method to wash hands and the third method in which liquid hand wash is used is also effective as soap. Using soap or hand wash liquids are the best way to get rid of most of the germs and dust on the hands. Among the two methods, use of hand wash liquid is more effective and safe because the liquids are not touched by the direct contact of the user, but it is dropped from the bottle when the top of the bottle is pressed (Ataee et al., 2017). Hence, it is safe enough to wash the hands with liquid hand wash (Hand Washing, 2020). In the case of soap, it is useful and effective to remove all the dirt and germs; the soap is used with the direct contact of the user. Hence, there is more chance of existing germs on the soap. If the same soap is used by another person, then is transferred to the hands of the person while touching the soap. Therefore, it can be said the effectiveness of soap and water is somehow doubtful to remove all the germs from the hands. If a person is using the method of washing hand with soap and water in a public place, then it can be risky because the soap is touched by several people and the people using the soap currently can get affected by the use of the soap.
Among hand wash liquid and soap, the liquid is the best option to wash the hands in a safe manner. The 4th set of participants was provided alcohol-based hand sanitizers that contain 60% alcohol. Alcohol-based sanitizers are best for the places, where soap or liquid hand wash is not available. Before using the sanitizer, one should look in the description of the sanitizer, and it should be at least containing 60% alcohol. Sanitizer helps to reduce the number of germs quickly. However, it is not effective enough because it is used on the hands that exist germs, oil and dust without washing or rinsing with water (Cdc.gov. 2020). Hence, the sanitizers are applied to the hands that keep already existing germs and dust. Hand sanitizers do not work well if the hands are greasy or dirty and it is not also effectively remove harmful chemicals like heavy metals and pesticides. Along with that, alcohol-based sanitizers are harmful to children, because if they swallow the, it can cause alcohol positioning. Hence, it is recommended to keep the sanitizers away from the reach of the children (Guo et al., 2018). The children should be supervised by the parents or some elder while using sanitizers. The results show that the most effective method of handwashing is hand wash liquids that are safe and able to remove maximum germs.
The results of the study show that there are severe things that can be used for handwashing, but the most effective thing is liquid hand wash. The soap is effective to remove germs if it is not used by many persons. In the case of the unavailability of soap and liquid hand wash, one can use alcohol-based hand sanitizers, but it should contain at least 60% alcohol (Wolfe et al., 2016). Alcohol-based sanitizers are useful where the soap or hand wash liquid is not available, but it cannot remove all the germs or heavy metals and pesticides from the hands because it is applied on the hand directly without washing the hand. Hence, it is useful for places where soap and liquid wash are not available (Kim et al., 2018). The results of the study and supportive evidence show that the most effective hand washing method is to wash the hand with liquid hand wash and water and rub the hands with the liquid for at least 20 seconds and the palms, fingers, nails and wrist should be covered well with the liquid hand wash or soap to remove all the dirt and germs from the hand.
Hand washing is very important to remove the germs and other dirt on the hands. Proper handwashing method should be followed by people to stay safe and well. Hands should be washed whenever is necessary (before eating, before making foods). At the time of outing, one should carry a sanitizer that is 60% alcohol-based to use it while required.
