    BUSINESS COMMUNICATION: REFLECTIVE ASSESSMENT

    Introduction 

    The assessment includes the self reflection while carrying out the inculcation of the business communication as a learner. The different types of business communications has been the constitution of the course that I have been carrying out that has helped me to learn the essential requirements of the business communication. The Business communications includes the spontaneous implementation of the business communication among the different types of groups and teams who operate in collaboration within any business. These skills include the interpersonal skills, the different types of communication (verbal, nonverbal and written) in general other than business communication. The other communications in business includes the emotional intelligence, oral communication, and the transferrable skills like that of the negotiation skills, group communication and the like. These are included in our course of study relation to the business communication. The two essential skills that are integral of the business communication among the all are reflected upon by me hereafter. These include the Intercultural Communication and Team communication. 
    Reflective Analysis
    The two forms of business communication that I have leant are discussed hereafter:
    Intercultural Communication: From this particular communication, I have come to learn about the importance of intercultural communication in the business communication. The impact of globalization has been there ha makes the human resources of any organisation multicultural employees belonging from different cultures. From the intercultural communication, I have learnt about the utilization and implications of the different types of models and theories related to the communication in terms of multicultural. The code of conduct and the easy of communicating among the different cultures of the colleagues or seniors within any team or organization are highly crucial for communicating effectively without any communication gaps (Sorrells, 2015). 
    I have learnt about the acculturation that is relevant these days. This is the process of blending of the cultures in terms of cultural, psychological and social changes (Mazanec et al. 2015). This phenomenon has become very common in the business especially in the large and, multinational companies. I have come to acquire the knowledge about the effects of acculturation that counts for the intercultural communication within business. 
     
    The theories that I have learnt includes the following: 
    Hofstede’s model of culture: This includes the five dimensions of the cultural differences that must be considered in order to go communicate within the multicultural workplace of any organisation. The five dimensions that I have come to know includes Individualism/Collectivism, Power/Distance Index, Masculinity/Femininity, Uncertainty/Avoidance Index, Pragmatic/Normative, and Indulgence/Restraint. I have been able to analyse the cultural statistics within any organisation and know about the patterns within the workforce clearly (Moran, Abramson & Moran, 2014). The different aspects related to the cultural differences and their approach is being recognised through the implication of this model that I have been able to acquire. In order to resolve the issues or any type of conflicts that has streamed from the cultural issues. 
    GLOBE model of culture: This is a framework that is implied in the understanding f the different cultures and includes the theory discussed above along with the Halls model of intercultural communication. This is a approach that has been learnt by me in communication (Goleman, 2017). This includes the understanding of the culture in terms of psychology, sociology of the culture and anthropology as well. I have learnt the implications of the nine attributes of the culture that includes Assertiveness, gender differentiation, uncertainty avoidance, power distance and the like that are similar to that of the Hofstede’s model. 
    Hall model: This includes the implications of the high-context culture and the low-context culture that is significant of the management of communication within the intercultural business types. The cultures needs to be understood in two that I have learnt which are: 
    High-context lecture: This is the type of communication where the culture and he communication are equally important, communication being the important one (Samovar et al. 2014). 
    Low-context culture: This type of culture includes the giving less pittance to the purpose of communicating that is sending any message. Therefore I have learnt that within the workplace of any organisation, there must be the high-context culture. 
    These are the intercultural communication models that must be inculcated in order to be communicating within different cultures. I have learnt that need to understand the cultural aspects and go for the solution of the issues is possible only through proper communication skills for reducing the conflicts. 
     
    Team Communication: 
    In business organisation, teams and groups are formed for the purpose of execution of functional operations and achieving the organisational objectives that share a common goal and therefore need to communicate. There are different types of people who operate within the team with different mindsets. This is where the skills related to the communication practices within any team or group is required (Boies, Fiset & Gill, 2015). I have learnt that the purpose of operating within a team and group is different. However, both the type counts for the effective communication irrespective of the different types dissimilarities like cultural, social, opinion wise as such. Groups are small and for small targets and teams are large with long termed goals. Any business organisation cannot operate within any industry without the teams and groups. The functional operations need to be done in collaboration as learnt by me. The task performed alone is not that result oriented or effective. Moreover, I have realized that working within teams or groups provides more new ideas and different perspectives for doing similar tasks. This enhances the scope of the tasks to be performed in amore result oriented way. Therefore, a healthy competition prevails within the group and the organisations are being benefitted. In this context, it is worth mentioning that the skills to cooperate and operate within the groups and team without being offending is highly crucial which I have learnt through the course of my learning business. Morale needs to be built which is again dependent on the managerial attributes of the individuals. I have been able to inculcate the habit of listening to the perspectives of others as well for taking the feedback of others (Boies, Fiset & Gill, 2015). This practice of taking and giving feedback has helped me improve my communication within groups irrespective of the place and purpose. There are disadvantages as well that I have learnt which makes the activities within the groups a bit slower. However, the advantages are huge that is beneficial for the business organisations (McLaren & Spink, 2017). Therefore, I need to develop the team communications within me which I have learnt partially and need to develop in a more effective way. Rationalism, direct pressure, inherent morality, self-censorship are few of the attributes that I have inculcated which helped me in the transformation of skilled individual (Cardon & Marshall, 2015). 
     
     
    The intercultural communication and the group communication have been discussed by me owing to the relevance of these factors in the business communication. As I have achieved the experience and knowledge as well form the course of my studies I have been able to know that the future scope of these skills related to the business communication is very significant for any individual like me in order to get recruited by organizations. In today’s world of high competition, the employers look for the candidates who are highly skilled in terms of communication especially (McLaren & Spink, 2017). This is because the need to have a well established communicative workplace with lesser conflicts is regarded as significant of the efficacy of the business operations. In terms of internal business communication, these skills are important as I have been to know after learning my course. With further more inculcation of the models and the practice related to the business communication I will transform into a communicative individual. These symptoms are highly hunted for by the employers. Therefore, my future scope is going to be positive and eventful owing the transformation of mine in terms of personal development. This personal development is going to provide me the scope to develop my career from the very initial stage and go for professional development as well from the very   initial stage of my career. Therefore, the preparations I am doing are commenced from the student life as well. The ability to brainstorm, go for critical thinking and understand the perspectives of others have been achieved by me that has contributed to my personal and professional development. 
    Conclusion
    In the course of the study, I have been able to achieve and understand the importance of the communication while operating within any business. This is very crucial in transferring me into a skilled employee. A skilled employee in terms of communication is attracting to the employers. Therefore, the course has helped me to learn the skills. I have been able to identify the skills of communication lacking in me. Thus I worked upon on the requirements of the skills by planning strategies for me. Moreover, the seminars and the simulation that were provided to me in the course of my studies were attended by me that helped me improve my skills in business communication.
