The main purpose of this assignment is to determine an organization in the country of Australia, which is concerned about the health and safety of their employees. Hence the organization selected for this task is known as the Australian Tourism. In this assignment due amount of consideration would be given to the various policies which is concerned about the health and safety issues of the employees of the organization. However, the assignment will also take into consideration the outcome of the work health safety assessment, which will also include details about risk management process of the various populations in the country. In the final part of the assignment a recommendation would be provided to determine the solution of the various identified posed to the health and safety of the employees.
Health Safety Policies
This policy is applicable to all the employees of the Australian Tourism who is also a citizen of Australia. It doesn’t matter whether an individual is a part-time employee, full time employee or a casual employee; the policy is applicable to all. The policy is applicable to every individual who is working in the path of the Australian Tourism or who is working benefit of the Australian Tourism organization ("Making it easier for people to do business with the ACT Government", 2019). That individual could be promoter, sub-promoter, and an agent. Consultant or a he can also be a non- permanent employee. It is applicable to all the tourism organizations in the country of Australia, for example the process of meeting a customer, a client or a producer. The Australian Tourism company works with an objective of ensuring a secured and health concerned environment to the employees of their organization and other people who benefits their company in some or the other manner (Sorensen et al., 2018). Such health and safety process is ensured only to the extent that makes it feasible to practice.
Such secured and healthy environment can only be ensured if the management and the employees of the organization work together to determine the solution. The issue concerning health and safety of the employees should be handled properly by implementing a program adhering to health and safety functions and processes. This program has to be checked upon, evaluated and audited to attain the most suitable practice (Scanlon et al., 2015).
The Australian Tourism is concerned with evaluating the health and safety policy implemented by the organization at regular intervals in order to deal with the enhancements made in the legal rules and regulations of the organization. The various procedures of the organization, the different facilities offered by the organization to their employees as well as the different commodities offered by the organization for the security of their employees (Palumbo et al., 2016). As an outcome of the evaluation process, a considerable amount of amendments is made in the policy at regular intervals to stay up to the mark. Moreover, all the employees of the organization are required to adhere to the different changes made in the rules and regulations of the Australian Tourism organization. The various different important documents, the policies, the checking lists are all recorded in the intranet of the company through which it is accessible by the employees of the company (Noe et al., 2017). Work Health & Safety System
The main purpose of the Work Health and Safety policy is to ensure a secured and healthy working atmosphere to each and every employees of the organization and any other individuals who is benefiting the organization in some or the other ways. The policy is also meant to provide a secured and well being method of working for the employees of the organization. Such a policy also ensures a set of programs for the purpose of the various healths and safety related processes, which in turn is continuously upgraded and hence it is very much efficiently operated (Mohammadfam et al., 2017).
However, the policy also works with an objective of determining various kinds of threats posed to the health of the employees of the Australian Tourism organization and taking adequate steps to reduce the amount of threat posed to the health and safety of their employees.
The policy also works with an attempt to continuously evaluate and enhance the various health and safety related policies to stay at par with the recent legislations. Such policies also grant the employees an access to various education and training materials. Moreover, the policy requires the employees to adhere to the rules and regulations and other legal means of practicing the various functions of the organization (Holt & Allen, 2015).
Roles and Responsibilities
In order to ensure health and safety to the employees of the Australian Tourism organization it is very much important for the individuals in the following positions take up their responsibility:
An Executive Leadership Team is mostly concerned with determining and also upgrading their information about the security and health related issues of the employees of their organization. It is also important for the team to know about the different functioning carried by their organization and be able to determine various threats and risks in connection with the functioning of the organization. Moreover, the team should also ensure that there are sufficient resources available for ensuring health and safety to the employees of their organization and also to ensure that the various threats and level of risks are either eliminated or reduced to a considerable extent. It is also the duty of the team to determine that an appropriate process is used to report any incident in the organization in a timely manner and also to ensure that appropriate action is taking to resolve such issues (Procedures & Inspections, 2019). Most importantly, the team should also ensure that the employees are adhering to the various rules and regulation framed by their organization.
It is the responsibility of the manager of the organization to ensure that the health and safety related the employees of the organization follow activities appropriately and in a timely manner (Frumkin, 2016).
However it is also the responsibility of the employees of the organization to ensure that their performance in the organization is not having any negative impact on the health and safety of the other employees (Gopang et al., 2017).
Findings and Recommendation
Any kind of incidents which has taken place in the Australian Tourism organization or which has just prevented happening should be immediately reported to the department of the People and Culture. It should not matter whether any asset of the organization has been damaged or any person of the organization has been affected or not, but the incident has to be strictly reported. The department of the people and culture should keep a track of all the incidents that has taken place in the organization in Australian Tourism report and investigation form. In case of the death or injury of any employee of the organization the process of reporting should also be completed in a timely manner. However, it is recommended that the manual handling of various machineries should be eliminated from the Australian Tourism organization, negative working pattern should be avoided and most importantly the mechanical handling of machineries should be taken into consideration. There are investigations conducted at the organization to determine whether the labours are handling the machineries manually or not and if this is the case, the process should be avoided. An examination should be done for the purpose of the safety of the work of the employees of the organization, a system of attaining feedback should be implemented and a detailed investigation should be done about the incident. Various kinds of risks should be examined in detail to ensure that the employees operating machineries manually are not exposed to any kind of risks. Moreover, the employees who usually operate the various machines in the organization manually should be given proper training for the same purpose to prevent the occurrence of any incident. An appropriate step should be taken to ensure that such employees who handle machineries manually works under strict supervision and are provided with relevant instruments such as the trolley to prevent any incident. The chairs and the structure of the organization should be designed as per the rules and regulations of the ergonomic and to ensure the equipments is appropriate for every single employee working in the organization. Any none functioning electrical gadget should be immediately removed and reported to prevent and mishap in the organization. The organization should most importantly maintain an emergency management program in case of any incident and have a first aid facility in their organization.
The main purpose of the assignment was to determine the health and safety related policy of the Australian Tourism Company for the health and safety of the employees of the organization. In the first part of the assignment discussion has been about the objectives of the policy of the Australian Tourism, In the second part consideration has been given to the roles and responsibilities of the management, leadership team and the executives of the organization. In the final part of the assignment due amount of consideration has been given to the different findings and a recommendation has been provided for the health and safety of the employees of the Australian Tourism, such as an effective emergency management and first aid availability in case of an incident in the organization.
