Purpose of this assignment
This assessment item is a group assignment and group participation will be assessed as part of the assessment.
The case study simulates a change scenario where the students takes on the role of change manager. The case study information is not complete so where necessary students will have to make assumptions and argue the pros and cons for any recommendations they make. If necessary, students are expected to find relevant information in the academic literature to justify their answers.

Case Study
This case study presents a scenario of an organization “Sunoco, Inc.”
The change implementation began with fact-finding as we discovered that our file drawers contained both valuable records needed to operate the business along with infrequently used records. We also learned that information was out of date and/or difficult to determine the latest versions. We also looked at other paper-based records at our remote offices and off-site storage facilities.
During first phase of the change, all paper record was automated into computer-based record. This change was successfully implemented. The detailed report of this change implementation is provided to you as a guideline.
Driven by market competition and broader global information accessibility program, the chief information officer, Mr Smith plans to migrate important operational data into the Amazon Cloud to take advantage of cost savings over maintain its own data centre. Storing all data in a single data centre has also been identified as a significant risk in the advent of a fire or natural disaster.
Mr Smith is also planning to introduce a cloud-based data warehousing and business intelligence software to make better informed business decisions in the organization.
Mr Smith takes it as a change implementation challenge as he concerned about the project sensitivity and thus requires a detailed plan. He has appointed your team and has requested you develop a change management plan to ensure a smooth and successful change.
 
Assignment tasks:
The assignment includes 3 Tasks
• Part A: Change Management Plan
• Part B: Presenting Change Plan
• Part C: Peer Review
 
Part A: Change Management Plan
For part A of the assessment you must complete the following tasks
You have been asked by Mr Smith, to develop change management plan for the data migration, data warehouse and BI software development. As background information, he has provided you the study about the previous Change.
Based on the information in the case study and the provided template, please write a detailed Change Management Plan (1500-2000 words).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Your report must include all the heading / sections in the provided template as the minimum, you can add extra sections if you wish. You may also change the formatting to improve the design.
 
Assessment criteria
Students should use this marking guide as reference to find detailed marks distribution. However, an additional rubric has been provided for expectations at each part of the assessment. In this group assignment I expect all students to contribute equally. During marking the assignment, we will have discretion in varying marks per person depending on the quality and effort that they provide to this assignment.

Part B: Presenting Change Plan
After your team handover the Change Management Plan, Mr Smith setups a formal meeting with your team and some key stakeholders (CEO Mrs Sue Larkins and head of department’s). In the meeting, your team will give a short presentation (10 minutes) to briefly present about the plan and convince the stakeholders of your team’s ability to control and manage the change.
You will present the information provided in your report using a PowerPoint presentation.

Part C: Peer Review
The peer reviews will be used to ensure all team members contribute equally. Normally marks will be allocated equally to all members but if it is identified one member contributes less the marks may be adjusted according to student contribution.
Suggestion: Develop your team spirit and culture base on the criteria on the peer review. Keep a record of how tasks are allocated and who contributes what and when to the report.
