ASSESSMENT TASK 1: KNOWLEDGE QUESTIONS

Assessment type:Written Questions 

Assessment task description    

·        This is the first (1) assessment task which comprises of ten (10) knowledge questions you have to successfully complete to be deemed competent in this unit of competency.

·        You must respond to all questions and you must answer all questions to the required level, e.g. provide the number of points, to be deemed satisfactory in this task.

·        You will receive your feedback within two weeks - you will be notified byyour Trainer/Assessor when results are available.

Applicable conditions:   

·        This knowledge test is untimed and conducted as open book tests (this means you are able to refer to your textbook during the test). 

·        You must use computers to answer the questions and answer the questions independently.

·        The trainer/assessor may ask you relevant questions on this assessment task to ensure that this is yourown work.

·        No marks or grades are allocated for this assessment task. The outcome of the task will be Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory.

·        Where a student’s answers are deemed not satisfactory after the first attempt, a resubmission attempt will be allowed.

 

Location:

·        This assessment task may be completed in a learning management system (i.e. Moodle), or independent learning environment.

 

Purpose of the assessment task

The purpose of this assessment task is to assess the students’ knowledge essential to

·        describe models and methods for operational plans

·        explain the role of an operational plan in achieving the organisation’s objectives

·        explain budgeting processes

·        list alternative approaches to developing key performance indicators to meet business objectives

·        outline the legislative and regulatory context relevant to the operational plan of the organization

·        outline the organisation’s policies, practices and procedures that directly relate to the operational plan.

 

Assessment Conditions and resources

Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in the management and leadership field of work and include access to:

·        relevant legislation and regulations

·        workplace documentation and resources

·        case studies and, where possible, real situations

·        interaction with others.

·        Office equipment such as computers, printers, internet, software, student portal.

Benchmark for Assessment

·        You are expected to respond to all questions. Direction is provided on the expected length of your response. These assessments will require a Short, Medium or Long response.

ASSESSMENT TASK 2: DEVELOP AN OPERATIONAL PLAN

Assessment type:

v  Case study and practical activity

 

Assessment task description    

·        This is the second (2nd) unit assessment task which comprises of case study and practical activities. 

·        This task consists of a case study and practical activities relating to the case study

·        Student must not use non-discriminatory language. The language used should not devalue, demean, or exclude individuals or groups on the basis of attributes such as gender, disability, culture, race, religion, sexual preference or age. Gender inclusive language should be used.

·        Assessor should not accept answers copied directly from texts without acknowledgement of the text.

·        You must respond to all tasks and submit them to your Trainer/Assessor.

·        You will receive your feedback within two weeks - you will be notified by your Trainer/Assessor when results are available.

·        Where your answers are deemed not satisfactory after the first attempt a resubmission attempt will be allowed.

Purpose of the assessment task

The purpose of this assessment task is to assess the students’ ability to develop an operational plan which includes:

v  Research, analyse and document resource requirements and develop an operational plan in consultation with relevant personnel, colleagues and specialist resource managers

v  Develop and/or implement consultation processes as an integral part of the operational planning process

v  Ensure details of the operational plan include the development of key performance indicators to measure organisational performance

v  Develop and implement contingency plans at appropriate stages of operational planning

v  Ensure the development and presentation of proposals for resource requirements is supported by a variety of information sources and seek specialist advice as required

v  Obtain approval for plan from relevant parties and ensure understanding among work teams involved
