E-commerce refers to electronic commerce is a sort of a model for business or the part of a model of large business which is allows the organization to run their business through internet and online. E-commerce can also be referred as commercial transaction which allows the transfer of data and information through internet and online. The growth rate of ecommerce has reached $2.5 trillion by 2017 though the increase in growth rate is slow in the Europe, the U.S. and Australia. In this e-world, there are 6 types of e-commerce such as Business to Business (B2B), Business to Consumer (B2C), Consumer to Consumer (C2C), Consumer to Business (C2B), Business to Administration (B2A), and Consumer to Administration (C2A). The mentioned types of e-commerce has made its presence through mobile application, website, social media, email and offline media which has came into being through different platforms such as computer, mobile, tablet, facebook, twitter, instagram, TV, radio, and through internal and purchased list of emails. To build the E-commerce presence, the first and most important thing is the implementation of the business and revenue model the SWOT analysis should be implemented to know the presence of the organization, the marketplace should be characterized for the the target customer. After all the implementation a systematic approach should be implemented to create the e-commerce presence. The areas on which the e-commerce in dependent upon are the management system, softwares, the design and architecture of the hardware, telecommunication process and the human resources. There should be a planning for the Systems Development Cycle (SDLC) which needs to be followed. For the website of the organization, the objectives of the business should be identified. The requirements of the information and the functionalities of the list of system should be developed. The system should be designed with specification for the platforms of hardware and software. For building the system, a website should be built and that can be done by the individual or by hiring a service providing vendor from outside. After the building of the system, it should be tested by testing the unit, testing the system, testing the acceptance, A/B testing with two hypothesis A and B and testing the multivariate. The system should be implemented and maintained by the feedback and response of the customer and by developing a systematic plan for monitoring and testing the system which will help to maintain the benchmarking level.

In e-commerce, transaction system is the final and the most important stage which needs to be passed through for the payment of ordered product and services. The payment in the transaction process should be done by various modes like Cash On Delivery (COD), Credit card, debit card, IMPS, RTGS, NEFT, charge cards, smart cards, electronic cash (e-cash), electronic wallets (e-wallet), digital cash and virtual currencies. The whole process of e-commerce from the beginning till the transaction process should be secured and thus e-commerce security system should be implemented to protect the assets of e-commerce from being accessed, used altered and destructed by some unauthorized personal. The dimension of the e-commerce security are as follows:

  1. Integrity - this dimension verifies the information that was sent and received was not changed by any unauthorised personnel
  2. Non Repudiation - this dimension acts as the protection against the cancellation of order and payments.
  3. Authenticity - this dimension acts as the process to authenticate the user before accessing the actual data or information
  4. Confidentiality - this dimension acts as the protection the information to be intercepted while transmitting the data. 
  5. Privacy - this dimension acts as a control to look after the required information.
  6. Availability - this dimension states the accessibility of data from anywhere and everywhere within a specific time.

The threats of e-commerce may occur in different forms such as: loss of confidential data, misuse of data, hacking, spoofing and eavesdropping of the site and the information, attack of viruses, trojans, etc. to the system and process, unavailability of the system and services, natural calamities or disasters and interruption of power supply to the system.
